2026-2027 Texas Mentorship Training (TMT) Design Session 1: Mentoring Actions and Release Time - 36740
Design Teams will review Mentoring Educator Competencies to understand the responsibilities of Mentoring Educators. Using these responsibilities, design teams will plan for the required 12 hours of first-semester mentoring and establish checkpoints to monitor progress throughout the year.

Prerequisite/Special Notes
Participants for this training should be members of their district's PREP Mentorship Design Team.
Objectives
• Engage in a deep dive into the Mentoring Educator Competencies, identify key skills and mindsets mentors need, and determine
how these competencies will be embedded into mentor training and support structures
• Design an implementation plan that includes strategies for a release time that ensures mentors and new teachers have structured
time for meaningful collaboration
• Develop a monitoring plan that includes timelines, tools, and data collection methods
