Dysgraphia 101 (Dyslexia Cohort 2) - 34396
This introductory session provides educational diagnosticians with a clear understanding of dysgraphia as defined by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and its relationship to specific learning disabilities in written expression. Participants will delve into the TEA criteria for dysgraphia, explore how it manifests differently from other writing-based learning disabilities, and review the key components of a comprehensive evaluation. Through case examples and discussion, attendees will gain practical insights into selecting appropriate assessment tools and interpreting data to make informed eligibility decisions and develop effective support recommendations.
This session is aligned with the evaluation components of the TEA-required self-assessment.

Objectives

Participants will review the TEA-recommended assessment components for evaluating dysgraphia, review their role in determining eligibility, and apply knowledge from TEA guidelines to analyze case study data, focusing on interpreting findings that align with dysgraphia as a specific learning disability.
