Resource and HQIM Through the Literacy Lens - 37427

In this one-day interactive session, special education teachers will explore how to use High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) to provide strong literacy instruction for students receiving special education services. Participants will learn to identify barriers within grade-level lessons, determine the literacy skills students need to successfully engage with the content, and select purposeful scaffolds that increase access while maintaining grade-level rigor. Through practical application with HQIM and exploration of the SDI Field User Guide, participants will examine strategies for providing specially designed instruction (SDI), including explicit instruction and targeted support in areas such as decoding, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and written response. Participants will leave with practical tools, resources, and strategies they can immediately use to strengthen literacy instruction and help students with IEPs successfully access grade-level learning.
