Behavior Through A Deaf Education Lens: Connection, Communication, and Co-Regulation Virtual - 37697

Challenging behaviors often have underlying causes that extend beyond what we see on the surface. For students who are deaf or hard of hearing, communication barriers, language deprivation, limited incidental learning, sensory differences, executive functioning challenges, and social-emotional experiences can all influence behavior. This workshop explores behavior through a deaf education lens, helping educators identify the "why" behind student behaviors and implement proactive, evidence-informed supports. Participants will examine how communication access, classroom environments, and instructional practices affect student behavior and learn practical strategies to foster self-regulation, engagement, and positive relationships. This workshop is designed for teachers and administrators who serve students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Participants will leave with tools they can immediately apply in their classrooms.
