Best Practices in Addressing SLD in Deaf or Hard of Hearing - 36341
Participants will review and discuss the legal standards and necessary components for conducting comprehensive evaluations for the Deaf or Hard of Hearing (D/HH) students with SLD. Understanding specifics of types of hearing loss and how that may influence the response and accuracy of the results will be discussed. Â Participants will be able to support eligibility decisions of SLD and review how the FIE impacts the Individualized Education Program (IEP) in D/HH students.

Objectives
By the end of the session, participants will identify and explain the neurobiology of the types and severity of hearing loss; identify and describe how IDEA and State Standards for SLD apply to students who are DHH; and identify and outline the essential components of a comprehensive FIE for students with hearing loss.
