Substance Use Insights: Prevention In Practice- Drug Trends & Medication Safety Virtual - 36299
With rapidly changing youth substance trends and increasing access to misused prescription medications, educators play a crucial role in early recognition and prevention. This session provides an overview of emerging drug patterns impacting students, including misuse of prescription stimulants, counterfeit pills containing fentanyl, and new synthetic substances appearing in school communities. Participants will learn how these substances are being accessed, the physical and behavioral signs of misuse, and the risks associated with sharing or improperly storing medications. This session will also cover the safe medications practices on campus and at home, communication strategies for supporting students, and practical steps educators can take to strengthen prevention and safety efforts schoolwide.
