Quest: Unpacking Neurodiversity and Autism in Public Education - April 2025 Virtual - 34895

Join Michael Tucker (Region 11), Amber Davies (Region 14), and Jessica Flores (Region 15) as we explore neurodiversity and autism in the school setting. Our special guest for this hour is Dr. Janet Sanchez Enriquez from ESC Region 20. In the wake of the rise in autism incidence, autism interventions, programs, and treatments have also increased. Generally, professionals recognize the importance of effective programs. Nevertheless, numerous unsupported treatments lack proof. As well as being time-consuming and ineffective, such programs exploit educators' and caregivers' emotional vulnerabilities and resources. During this virtual session, we will discuss how to identify questionable intervention programs and how to best focus our attention on evidence-based programs and resources. In this informative and engaging session, educators and caregivers of learners with autism will gain valuable insights into identifying and combating misinformation and unproven interventions. This session is aligned with the Instructional Strategies component(s) of the TEA-required. **This is a virtual PLC format and is a collaboration between ESC Regions 11, 14, and 15 The target audience is educators in Regions 11, 14 and 15**
