Summer Teacher Institute for Teachers of Complex Access Needs Students - 34622
This multi-day session is an interactive, conference-style opportunity for teachers in Texas to receive in-depth training on best practice strategies on the topics of IEPs, instruction, assistive technology, classroom climate, and communication for students with significant cognitive disabilities. The institute will involve attending presentations, problem-solving for their classrooms with their regional ESC trainer/coach, and engaging in hands-on activities to directly implement in the classroom.

Prerequisite/Special Notes
Complete either the Rubric of Effective Practices Series (5, 1-hour courses) or A Step Towards IEP Quality and Rigor for Students with Complex Access Needs (1, 6-hour courses) and complete one full coaching cycle with a regional ESC trainer/coach prior to the institute.
Objectives
At the end of this session, teachers of complex access needs students will demonstrate the effective implementation of IEP strategies using assistive technology and communication tools.
