(Keller ISD) Collaborative Practices for Team-Based Autism Evaluations - 37680
Accurate identification of students with Autism eligibility requires meaningful collaboration among evaluation team members. This session is designed for speech-language pathologists and school psychologists seeking to strengthen interprofessional practice and deepen their understanding of each discipline's role in the autism assessment process. Participants will explore best practices for conducting comprehensive, team-based autism evaluations, with an emphasis on integrating multiple data sources to support eligibility decisions. Topics will include parent and teacher interviews, observations, structured interactions, informal pragmatic assessments, questionnaires, and formal assessment measures. Attendees will examine how communication, social interaction, behavior, and developmental information converge to inform eligibility decisions. The session will also provide practical strategies for collaboratively planning evaluations, reducing duplication of effort, and synthesizing findings across disciplines.
