The Texas Education Agency, in collaboration with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services and the Supreme Court of Texas Children's Commission, is pleased to present the 2026 Foster Care and Education Summit. This summit is designed to strengthen collaboration between education and child welfare partners and equip participants with current information, best practices, and practical strategies to support students experiencing foster care. Through engaging sessions and meaningful discussions, attendees will deepen their understanding of federal and state requirements, including the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) foster care provisions, while building their capacity to promote educational stability, school success, and positive outcomes for students in foster care. The target audience includes school administrators, counselors, registrars, district foster care liaisons, child welfare ESSA points of contact, CASA representatives, Single Source Continuum Contractor (SSCC) providers, and DFPS staff who support school-aged students. Special thanks to the University of North Texas for hosting this event and the Education Service Center Region 11 for their partnership and coordinated support.
