Different Pathways, Extraordinary Brains: Executive Functions in DHH Learners - 37078
Executive functions are the brain systems responsible for attention, self-regulation, working memory, organization, problem-solving, and independence. For Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) learners, differences in access to language, communication, and early experiences can influence how these critical skills develop. This session explores the neuroscience of executive functions in DHH learners, dispels common misconceptions, and provides practical strategies to support learning, behavior, self-advocacy, and long-term success. Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of the DHH brain and evidence-based approaches that help build capacity, confidence, and independence.
