From Decoding to Making Meaning: Building Word Knowledge in Elementary Classrooms (3rd-5th Grade) - 36735
For many students, big words can be a barrier or a bridge to comprehension. In this session, we’ll focus on making complex words more accessible through explicit, systematic instruction in word reading, word meaning, and morphemes. Participants will explore simple, practical routines to help students break words into sounds and meanings, read them accurately, and understand them with confidence. Instructional strategies will be tailored to the grade level of the session so they can be applied right away. 3–5 (PM)
