Best Practices in Addressing SLD in Deaf or Hard of Hearing - 36341
Participants will review and discuss the legal standards and necessary components for conducting comprehensive evaluations for the Deaf or Hard of Hearing (D/HH) students with SLD. Understanding specifics of types of hearing loss and how that may influence the response and accuracy of the results will be discussed. Participants will be able to support eligibility decisions of SLD and review how the FIE impacts the Individualized Education Program (IEP) in D/HH students.

Objectives
By the end of the session, participants will identify and explain the neurobiology of the types and severity of hearing loss; identify and describe how IDEA and State Standards for SLD apply to students who are DHH; and identify and outline the essential components of a comprehensive FIE for students with hearing loss.
