Building Understanding from Clothesline Math: From Concrete to Concept Mathematics Online Series - 34376

Inspire your students’ journey to mathematical understanding through hands-on tools and purposeful strategies! In this session, educators will explore how to guide students from concrete to abstract thinking using the Clothesline Math approach. By leveraging the Concrete-Representational-Abstract (CRA) instructional sequence with algebra tiles, participants will deepen their practice in teaching multiplication and algebraic concepts. Educators will also build a clear progression for teaching integer operations with two-color counters, fostering a solid conceptual foundation for their students. The session will culminate with the creation of formative assessments designed to pinpoint students’ needs and shape a student-centered learning plan for mastery. With new insights and strategies, educators will leave equipped to bring these transformative practices into their classrooms and support all learners in achieving success. In this self-paced online session, participants will engage in interactive learning tasks using Desmos Classroom platform.
