Empowering Minds, Nurturing Hearts: Fostering Cognitive and Affective Development in Gifted Learners (GT Update) - 32599
This GT update course is designed to equip educators with the latest insights and practices to support the holistic development of gifted learners. Through a series of engaging discussions and activities, participants will investigate key topics such as executive functioning, asynchronous development, boredom, perfectionism, and underachievement among gifted students. We will explore the unique challenges and intensities experienced by gifted learners and examine the diverse profiles of giftedness as outlined in the Betts Autonomous Learner Model. Throughout the session, participants will have ample opportunities to collaborate with peers, share common experiences and dilemmas, and address prevalent myths surrounding gifted education. Participants will leave the course with a deeper understanding of the needs of gifted students and a toolkit of strategies to nurture their academic and affective development.

Objectives
Educators will deepen their understanding of gifted learners by reviewing key characteristics, exploring theoretical frameworks, and practicing strategies to support both their cognitive and affective needs.
