Evaluation of School-Age Students from Birth to Aging Out Using Developmental Assessments - 31860
Evaluating school-age children at both ends of the age continuum can present unique challenges for evaluation personnel. This presentation will review different assessments that can be utilized in a holistic evaluation of school age students from birth to 22. Participants will define differences between norm referenced assessments and criterion referenced assessments. Use of clinical validity data as a qualitative source of information will be explained. During this workshop, learners will recognize different stages of developmental milestones to enhance the interpretation of evaluation results, regardless of student’s age. Participants will learn how to provide a detailed account of a child’s developmental strengths and weaknesses to make individualized, student-specific recommendations and interventions for school-based teams. This session will highlight the functionality of developmental history and adaptive behavior measures in completing developmental assessments, which are frequently underutilized by evaluation personnel. A review of the Developmental Profile-Fourth Edition (DP-4) will include principles of use, psychometric properties, administration procedures, scoring, a case example, and interpretation guidance within a context of overall data.
This session is aligned with the evaluation and reevaluation component(s) of the TEA-required self-assessment.
