Drug Impairment Training for Education Professionals (DITEP) - Zoom - 27305
The goal of the DITEP course is to enable the secondary educational professional to recognize the signs and symptoms of drug and/or alcohol impairment, in order to:
1) Prevent an impaired student from driving away from campus, and/or
2) Serve as a treatment intervention tool to reduce future instances of DWI.
The information and procedures presented in this course are for administrative purposes only. They are designed to aid in the assessment and documentation of drug and/or alcohol impairment in students. The subject matter presented will touch upon some, but not all, of the factors that a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) considers when examining a drug-impaired individual. This training is not designed as an enforcement tool and will not qualify the participant as a DRE.

Objectives
1. Describe the involvement of drugs in schools and society.
2. List the seven drug categories and recognize the outward signs and symptoms of impairment associated with each along with discussion of drug trends in society including prescription drug abuse, Spice, bath salts, and energy drinks.
3. Identify the key factors that should be considered when discussing substance abuse with a parent.
4. Properly document your observations.
5. Discuss/review school policy.
