Special Education Basics for a Busy Early Childhood Classroom Series: The Path to a Special Education Referral Virtual - 37758

This session is designed as one part of a practical, connected learning series for general education teachers working with students from early childhood through second grade. When a student is struggling with learning, communication, behavior, or participation in the classroom, teachers often have questions about what to do next. How do they know when to provide additional classroom support, continue monitoring progress, or initiate a special education referral? What are the teachers' responsibilities, and how can they partner with families and other school professionals throughout the process? In this session, teachers will explore Child Find, the purpose of special education referrals, and the responsibilities of general education educators under applicable federal and Texas requirements.
