A Language Garden for Children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing: Growing Listening, Language, and Auditory Memory Through Everyday Interactions Virtual - 37729
Everyday interactions are fertile ground for language growth! Explore how routines, play, and classroom activities can support listening, spoken language, and auditory memory for children who are deaf or hard of hearing. Participants will learn to identify critical elements in spoken messages, gradually build auditory recall, and use practical strategies—including acoustic highlighting, repetition, wait time, and auditory closure—to strengthen listening and language development. Through interactive activities and hands-on planning, participants will leave with ideas they can put into practice immediately. This workshop is designed for Teachers of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, speech-language pathologists, early intervention providers, auditory-verbal professionals, and other educators and specialists who support children who are deaf or hard of hearing, from birth through elementary school.
