This session, specifically for Abilene RDSPD staff, will explore effective strategies for ensuring communication access for students who are deaf or hard of hearing (DHH) while integrating translanguaging practices to support inclusive learning. Participants will examine key laws and guidance documents that shape best practices for accessibility, review research on the purpose and impact of translanguaging, and analyze real-world examples of its application. Through reflection on personal language expectations and current classroom practices, attendees will learn how to apply translanguaging strategies to create equitable, linguistically responsive environments for learners who are DHH. This session addresses Special Education Self-Assessment indicators 2, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 12.
