This virtual session will provide participants with an overview of identifying intellectual disabilities (ID) based on cognitive and adaptive behavior assessments. Attendees will explore best practices, differential diagnoses, and how to interpret test results to ensure accurate identification.
This session is aligned with the evaluation component of the TEA-required self-assessment.

Objectives
Participants will accurately identify the criteria for intellectual disability (ID) according to TEA standards and other major diagnostic systems.
Participants will evaluate the impact of adaptive behavior assessments in determining eligibility for ID, using multiple data sources.
Participants will apply strategies for ruling out competing diagnoses when determining intellectual disability in students.
