This workshop is designed to efficiently deliver the background knowledge needed to successfully diagnose, group, and teach emerging and struggling readers in grades 2-12.
This session aligns with the FAPE and Intervention component(s) of the TEA-required self-assessment.
Audiences
Assistant Principals, Counselors, Principals, Teacher - General Education, LSSP (Licensed Specialist in School Psychology)
Objectives
Educators will leave the session with the following:
1. An understanding of why students struggle with decoding
2. Tools and knowledge needed to diagnose decoding issues in students of all ages effectively
3. Resources to group students successfully for instruction
4. Functional teaching strategies to provide age/grade-appropriate decoding
5. Progress monitoring tools to measure growth and adjust as needed
6. How to use student manipulatives to engage students
