R-1-1 Math Now: Mental Math Strategies for Addition and Subtraction Concepts for Elementary Mathematics - An Asynchronous Professional Learning Session - 30096

This session is part of R-1-1 Math Now Professional Learning Opportunities where participants can engage in the session anytime, anywhere. Teaching students mental math offers a significant benefit: it teaches flexible thinking. Instead of memorizing steps, mental math encourages and fosters a true understanding of mathematics. Mental math emphasizes that math is more than a set of procedures; it's about grasping a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts and flexibility in problem-solving. In this session, participants will explore mental math strategies such as counting on, making ten, using place value, and decomposing to support addition and subtraction concepts. In this self-paced asynchronous session, participants will engage in interactive asynchronous learning tasks using interactive technology applications such as Google Suites. Participants will build their capacity to foster a true understanding of mathematics through mental math strategies in the classroom. Once participants have interacted with the content in the session, completed the form at the end, and provided feedback, they will earn up to 3 hours of CPE.
