Ethics in Trauma & Family Counseling - Integrated Models and General Best Practices (LPC Credit Only) - 27651

This session will provide a general overview of why and how to ethically utilize integrated models in family systems to address trauma. We will explore directive and nondirective approaches through the lens of narrative and existential psychotherapy, DBT, and CBT models based on ethics and safety. We will explore factors in assessment and recommendations for family counseling, when it is not safe to do so, and how to safely move through discussions without re-traumatization. We will also spend some time discussing the primary tasks of the counselor in stabilization and support in the face of trauma, along with a few helpful, specific interventions.
