This four-part academy series is designed specifically for campus administrators seeking to expand their leadership toolkit and build capacity in emergent bilingual education. The academy provides a comprehensive overview of key topics essential to enhancing Bilingual and ESL programs. Each session offers a focused opportunity to deepen understanding and develop skills critical to leading and improving emergent bilingual initiatives. Session 4: Content-Based Language Instruction (CBLI) Overview In this session, campus administrators will explore the foundational principles of Content-Based Language Instruction (CBLI) and its role in supporting Emergent Bilingual (EB) students. Participants will learn how CBLI integrates language development with academic content, providing EB students with meaningful access to grade-level instruction while building English proficiency. The session will highlight key features of effective CBLI, including the integration of ELPS, use of scaffolds, and intentional language objectives within content-area teaching. Administrators will gain practical strategies to support and monitor the implementation of CBLI on their campuses and ensure alignment with the district’s Bilingual and ESL program models.
