Scottish Rite for Children (SRC) Turbo Start: A Dyslexia Curriculum for Newly Identified Students with Dyslexia - 34869

The Turbo Start curriculum is a nine-week, evidence-based dyslexia intervention designed to provide a jump start for newly identified students of all ages who need comprehensive dyslexia intervention while awaiting placement in an intervention group. Derived from the evidence-based dyslexia curriculum, Turbo Start provides foundational training in the five components of effective reading instruction, including phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, reading comprehension. Each component is taught developmentally using a direct, systematic, cumulative, multisensory method of introduction and practice to meet specific needs of newly identified students with dyslexia. This session aligns to the dyslexia component of the TEA Self - Assessment.

Prerequisite/Special Notes
Previously trained Therapists, Practitioners, and Providers of Dyslexia Intervention. Participants are required to purchase the Turbo Start curriculum from Scottish Rite for Children prior to attending the training. The materials cost is $200 per participant paid directly to Scottish Rite for Children.
Objectives
By the end of the session participants will examine the five components of effective reading instruction (phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, reading comprehension), and practice direct, systematic, and multisensory methods to address the needs of newly identified students with dyslexia utilizing Turbo Start.
