Overview of PBIS - 34412

The mission of PBIS is to build the capacity of schools by adopting a sustained, positive, preventative, and effective instructional approach to school-wide discipline and behavior management. This session will provide an overview of PBIS and how it fits within an MTSS framework. The session will also provide examples of how PBIS operates at TIERS 1-3. This session aligns with the FAPE and Intervention component(s) of the TEA-required self-assessment.

Objectives
In this session participants will discuss the impact of problem behaviors on educational outcomes and explore the role of PBIS within a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) framework. Participants will also identify the five elements of PBIS and how they work in concert to make schools more effective.
