Unraveling the Compexities of Pragmatics: Putting the Pieces Together - 33597
Communication abilities, skills, and habits vary from one person to the next. When people have trouble communicating, the effects on their lives can be devastating. Pragmatics is communication that focuses on goal-consistent language use in social contexts. Difficulties in pragmatics are frequently seen in individuals with Autism and Social Communication Disorder. This workshop will discuss the overall umbrella term of pragmatics.
This session is aligned with the Child Find and Evaluation components of the TEA-required self-assessment.

Diagnosticians, LSSP (Licensed Specialist in School Psychology), Speech Therapists, Teacher - Special Education
Objectives
Participants will learn about some of the different and unique areas within pragmatic language, and how to use this information to help determine an examinee’s strengths and weaknesses to develop appropriate interventions and IEP goals.
