This workshop is designed to efficiently deliver the background knowledge needed to successfully diagnose, group, and teach emerging and struggling readers in grades K-2.
This session aligns with the FAPE and Intervention component(s) of the TEA-required self-assessment.

Objectives
Educators will leave the session with the following:
1. Research explaining why students struggle with decoding
2. Tools and knowledge to diagnose decoding issues in students of all ages effectively
3. Strategies for grouping students successfully for instruction
4. Functional teaching strategies to provide age/grade-appropriate decoding
5. Progress monitoring tools to measure growth and adjust as needed
6. Suggestions for use of manipulatives to engage students.
