Creating and Using Switches to Assist Students who are Blind, Visually Impaired, or Have Complex Access Needs - 32284
This session will focus on how to create and use switches with students who are blind or visually impaired and have complex access needs. Teachers will learn how to create activities using switches and how to use or create battery interrupters in order to turn any toy or battery operated object into a cause and effect learning material specific to student preferences. This session is aligned with TEA Special Education Self-Assessment indicators 2, 6, 7, 8, and 12.

Objectives
Participants will develop the ability to make their own switch toys by creating battery interrupters for use in the classroom.
Participants will develop a plan for incorporating switches into at least three areas of instruction for one or more students.
