Abydos 12-Day Summer Writing Institute - 24804

This 12-day, research-based, hands-on training focuses on (1) teaching reflexive and expository writing as a process; (2) using the writing workshop model in the classroom; (3) preparing students for state assessments; (4) incorporating grouping, sharing, and conferencing techniques into instruction; (5) pre-writing, writing, reformulating, correcting, editing, and proofreading; (6) integrating grammar as a part of the writing process; and (7) making the act of writing and the teaching of writing more engaging, effective, and enjoyable. Every participant will receive a copy of the books, "Acts of Teaching: How to Teach Writing" and "Poetry After Lunch," both by Carroll and Wilson. PLEASE NOTE: Participants are expected to attend all 12 days of the institute; therefore, partial credit will not be awarded.
