Librarians and Local Authors Unite: Bringing Meaningful Experiences to Students 7-12 - 34640
Come join local author, Angela Henderson Smith, as she shares how to bring authors into your school libraries, offering students an experience that they may not have outside of your creative collaboration. Angela taught middle school English Language Arts for 13 years, so she knows the ins and outs of the school system. As an author, speaker, and writing coach, school visits are her main work and joy! For 7-12, Angela engages the students by sharing what it means to be an author, the process along the journey, and how it relates to all the students pursuing their own ambitions in life. If desired, for juniors and seniors, her niche is touching on the essay portion of the college application (Common App) as she created and leads writing workshops all summer in Sunnyvale, titled College Prep Class: Writing Essays for College Applications & Scholarships.
Angela also leads the North Texas SCBWI group (Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators), and highlights what other established writers offer in our area! She can't wait to share how she makes author visits easy for librarians and exciting for your students. This is a virtual event. Participants will be sent zoom link prior to the event.
