Assessment 101: Navigating Special Education Evaluations (Dyslexia Cohort 3) - 34395

Join us for an engaging and informative session focused on the importance of triangulating data in the Full Individual Evaluation (FIE) to create a comprehensive and accurate narrative of a student's abilities and needs. This session is designed for educational diagnosticians and special education professionals committed to utilizing multiple data sources to inform their evaluations. Participants will learn techniques for integrating qualitative and quantitative data, understand the value of diverse assessment tools, and explore strategies for synthesizing information to tell a cohesive and meaningful story about each student. By the end of this session, attendees will be equipped to produce well-rounded evaluations that support effective educational planning and interventions. This session is aligned with the evaluation and dyslexia components of the TEA-required self-assessment.

Participants will review special education disability/eligibility criteria and assess the 13 different eligibilities under special education, discuss fundamental statistical knowledge, focusing on statistical measures provided by norm-referenced assessments in the evaluation process, and discover techniques for integrating qualitative and quantitative data to create comprehensive narratives about students' abilities and needs in their evaluation.
