In the state of Texas, both public districts and charter schools are required to provide students who have a language other than English and are identified as an English learner with an opportunity to participate in a Bilingual or ESL (English as a Second Language) program. This session is specific to Charter School leaders. Participants will be provided with an overview of English learner compliance and instruction in Texas. There will be opportunities for questions and collaboration with the presenter and Charter School leaders. Objectives: -Identify who is an English learner. -Understand the legal guidelines that inform the instruction of English learners. -Understand the levels of language proficiency. -Learn instructional techniques that can be used to differentiate for English learners.
