Practicing as a BCBA in school environments: Ethical and practical considerations Virtual - 36439
BCBAs bring tremendous value to teams supporting students in public schools. It is an exciting, but challenging, place to work. However, the public school environment bears little resemblance to the most common clinical experiences and training of BCBAs. These differences can create frustrating conflicts for BCBAs. Collaborating with other professionals (OTs, SLPs, School Psychologists, Administrators, etc) while maintaining integrity to our ethical code can also be difficult. This training will provide a behavior-analytic account of professional collaboration, focused on understanding ways we can maintain our professional ethical responsibilities while also respecting that the other members of the school team have similar potentially conflicting contingencies. Specific examples and case studies will explore issues related to issues such as data collection, intervention design and evaluation, and the shared responsibilities of ensuring the integrity of everything in the context of the contingencies governing special education services and supports. 1 BCBA ethics credit
