This workshop is designed to support speech-language pathologists (SLPs) who are new to practicing in the public school setting. It will provide comprehensive guidance on navigating key aspects of school-based practice, including timelines, evaluations, Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and more. Participants will gain practical strategies and tools to effectively manage these essential components of their roles within the school system. This session is aligned with the Child Find. Evaluation, and IEP Content and Development component(s) of the TEA-required self-assessment.

As a result of this presentation, the participant will be able to explain the timelines and deadlines specific to evaluations, assessments, and IEP development, collaborate with educators, administrators, and parents to facilitate effective communication and teamwork, implement IEPs, including goal development, progress monitoring, and documentation, and list strategies for managing caseloads, prioritizing tasks, and optimizing time management
