Data Literacy 201: Selecting the Proper Metrics - 36290

Data Literacy 201 focuses on measuring the right things in the right ways. This session moves beyond interpreting data to designing meaningful, purpose-aligned metrics that support strong decisions. Participants will learn how to evaluate metric quality, distinguish leading and lagging indicators, triangulate evidence, and avoid common misinterpretation pitfalls. Using education-focused examples, we’ll practice selecting valid, reliable, and actionable measures that strengthen reporting and performance conversations. This workshop is hands-on and collaborative, designed for service center and district/campus staff who want to deepen their data practice and improve how they choose and communicate metrics. Participants will leave with practical tools to build trustworthy metrics and turn data into meaningful action.
