Texas Active Learning Conference - 34992

This session is for professionals who serve students who are blind or visually impaired, students with multiple disabilities, and students with complex access needs. Every child can learn! Active learning, an innovative approach developed by Dr. Lilli Nielsen, has reshaped educational programming by motivating and empowering people with multiple special needs to be engaged in their environment instead of controlled by it. Learn how to increase functional independence and developmental skills while reducing stereotypical and aggressive behaviors. Active Learning materials will be on display throughout the conference. The conference will be led by Patricia Obrzut, MS, OTR/L, and Kirstyn Martino, BS, CTRS, from the Penrickton Center for Blind Children. This conference will address the Special Education Self-Assessment indicators 2, 4, 7, 8, 10, 12, and 18.
