Active Learning: A Make-and-Take for Professionals Serving Students Who Are Blind, Visually Impaired, and DeafBlind - 32605

This workshop is a follow-up to the Active Learning Overview, an instructional approach developed by Dr. Lilli Nielsen of Denmark. Participants must first complete the Active Learning Coaching workshop or view the Modules on Active Learning located on the TSBVI website (https://bit.ly/3NPW9nP). Active Learning is an instructional strategy used with individuals who are blind, visually impaired, and deafblind and developmentally functioning below 48 months old, regardless of their chronological age, and learners who have significant physical, cognitive, and emotional delays in addition to a visual impairment. The Active Learning approach reinforces the principle that all individuals learn best through active participation. This course includes content from the Active Learning Space website (www.activelearningspace.org), a collaborative project developed by the Penrickton Center for Blind Children, Perkins School for the Blind, and Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired. This session addresses Special Education Self- Assessment indicators numbers 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, 18, and 21.
