Certification Training for Interpreters and Translators - 31437

This two-day training is divided into two parts. Part one will focus on the interpreter's goals, modes, and the interpreter code of ethics. Part two will focus on how to facilitate an interpreter session, the interpreter roles, and interpreting in special education. The Community Interpreting certificate training will focus on the essential foundations of interpreting but will also deliver the specific application to the role of the interpreter (or anyone functioning within the public school district as an interpreter within the special education context). Participants will learn vocabulary, terminology, interpreting theory, methodology, and performance when interpreting in school settings. This training is highly applicable to any school staff or faculty member involved in the special education and ARD meeting process, or those who interact with any limited English proficient population who are being served by their school district. This session is aligned with the Properly Constituted ARD component(s) of the TEA-required self-assessment.
