Abydos 12-Day Summer Writing Institute - 29205

This 12-day, research-based, hands-on institute focuses on (1) teaching personal narratives, expository writing, poetry, and inquiry as a process; (2) using the writing workshop model in the classroom; (3) preparing students for state assessments; (4) incorporating grouping, sharing, and conferencing techniques into instruction; (5) prewriting, writing, reformulating, correcting, editing, and proofreading; (6) integrating grammar as a part of the writing process; and (7) making the act of writing and the teaching of writing more engaging, effective, and enjoyable. Every participant will receive a copy of the book, "Acts of Teaching: How to Teach Writing, Third Edition," by Carroll and Wilson. IMPORTANT: Participants are expected to attend all 12 days of the institute; therefore, partial credit will not be awarded.
