Vicarious Trauma and Deaf Education - 28891

Professionals who work with deaf/hard-of-hearing students often experience vicarious, or secondary, trauma. Vicarious trauma results when one empathetically engages with a trauma survivor. During this workshop, participants will explore the meaning of vicarious trauma and how trauma physiologically affects the body. Ways to mitigate the negative effects of vicarious trauma will be discussed, and strategies designed to help professionals become more mentally, emotionally, and physically healthy will be presented. Participants can earn 0.6 BEI CEUs for attending this session.
