Thinking About Post-Secondary Services in Early Childhood - 34172
This session aims to equip educators and service providers with strategies to support parents in understanding and accessing post-secondary services while their children are still in early childhood. By fostering early connections, families can better navigate the transitions from early intervention to adulthood, ensuring that children with disabilities are set up for long-term success. Participants will explore key resources, strategies for effective communication with parents, and the benefits of early planning for post-secondary services.
This session is aligned with the Family Engagement component of the TEA-required self-assessment.

Objectives
Participants in this session will dentify key post-secondary resources and services available for students with disabilities and how to introduce them to parents during early childhood. Participants will also develop strategies for engaging and educating parents about the long-term benefits of planning for post-secondary services early and create an action plan for initiating discussions about post-secondary services with families during early childhood transition meetings.
