Every Move Counts -- Clicks and Chats Sensory-Based Approach: Communication and Assistive Technology - 30601

This series of four, half-day workshops presents non-traditional assessment and intervention strategies appropriate for the development of communication in individuals having complex access needs, significant cognitive disabilities, and/or autism. Information is relevant to the needs of those individuals who are currently unable to communicate their wants and needs spontaneously in their environment, regardless of age or severity of physical and/or cognitive differences. Techniques incorporate current research in the areas of communication, education, and sensory integration. This workshop is appropriate for professionals, including speech/language pathologists, special education classroom teachers, occupational therapists, physical therapists, teachers of students with visual impairment, and orientation and mobility instructors. Participants must attend all sessions: Session 1: Jan 10 -- Research and Theory Session 2: Jan 31 -- Assessment Session 3: Feb 21 -- Implementation of Counts Session 4: Mar 21 -- Implementation of Clicks and Chats A Zoom link will be sent to registered participants before the session.

Prerequisite/Special Notes
Participants should register with at least 1 other educator in another discipline (i.e. TVI, PT, OT SLP, O&M, classroom teacher, etc.) to make a team of 2+. You are able to register more than one team per district (a team can be 2+ with a maximum of 5 per team. ) Teams should select a student to apply what they learn each session and bring their experiences and questions to the subsequent session. Manuals will be provided to each team (2+). ASHA CEUs will be provided.
