New Teacher Tech: Technology Resources for Student Engagement! - 30412

This session, developed for those new to the classroom (new teachers, alternatively certified teachers, etc.) or those who are returning to the classroom, will allow participants to walk away with a set of practical and immediately useful technology tools to add to their classroom tool belt. As a metric, we will walk through Phillip Schlechty's "Levels of Classroom Engagement" and explore how technology can help us level that engagement up! The world of education technology changes quickly, so we will explore a variety of the latest tech resources and dive deep into research-based pedagogical practices that it can support. Technology allows educators to engage their students in the content in a variety of ways at the same time. Student engagement is also made easier because this is the world in which they live. But technology by itself isn't innately engaging; we have to add meaning to the use of technology by utilizing teaching best practices. Merging pedagogy and technology to address student engagement is easier than you might think!
