Bite-Sized Summer Learning Series: Incorporating Social Narratives for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorders in the School Setting - 27792
Do you have 90 minutes? Then join us this summer as we offer a series of online mini sessions on evidence-based strategies that will help you improve student learning. The intended outcome is that participants will increase their repertoire of learning strategies that have been shown to be effective for learners with unique learning needs.
Because of their lack of understanding of social cues or rules, people with autism (AU) often face challenges when engaging in social interactions. Social narratives and social stories are strategies cited for teaching new social skills and encouraging individuals to regulate their behavior. They are often designed to be used as a precursor to, or in anticipation of, upcoming events. Research has demonstrated that social scripts can enhance social interactions, communication, and various other behaviors of those with AU.
