Building Meaningful Days: Planning for Your Student's Future - 25895

Although the idea of Employment First and its support of competitive integrated employment opportunities are gaining ground, some families remain hesitant about their loved one working or being out in the community on his or her own. Many people, especially those who care for individuals with more significant disabilities, still do not see competitive integrated employment as a viable option -- and choose to remain in site-based programs. This session will share ideas on how traditional day services can be used to build skills, prepare individuals for full lives in the community, and put them on a pathway to employment. This session will be led by Sara Murphy, Director of TCI’s WorkLink program, and will be ideal for families, educators, and employment professionals who want to support students to lead productive, meaningful lives.
