Families and professionals often work very hard to plan for a student's transition to employment; though, unfortunately, sometimes they forget to involve the student in the process. Student aspirations and goals should be what drive the transition process. This session will highlight the vital importance of building self-determination skills in youth with disabilities and offer strategies and tools that families can use to give their son or daughter a voice. Ultimately, employment success is dependent on a youth expressing his or her strengths, needs, and feeling confident that he or she can achieve great things.
