Equity in Mathematics: Revealing the Mathematician, Grades K -12 - 24987

Practices in mathematics instruction that support access and equity require comprehensive understanding. These practices include holding high expectations and ensuring access to high-quality mathematics curriculum. When access and equity have been successfully addressed, student outcomes cannot be predicted by students' racial, ethnic, linguistic, gender, and socioeconomic backgrounds. This session will also address student identity as mathematicians, communication in mathematics, and rich tasks that allow student discourse and persistence in mathematics.
