DESCRIPTION:Writing Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) goals for infants and toddlers looks very different from writing Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals for children ages three and older. In Early Childhood Intervention (ECI), outcomes are developed through a family-centered process that reflects the family's priorities, concerns, and daily routines while supporting the child's development within natural environments. When children are deaf, hard of hearing, blind, or visually impaired, ECI collaborates with the local education agency (LEA) to provide services, and LEA providers must understand and follow ECI requirements for developing high-quality IFSP outcomes.

This interactive workshop is designed for teachers of the deaf and hard of hearing, teachers of students with visual impairments, and certified orientation and mobility specialists who provide early intervention services to infants, toddlers, and their families. Participants will learn the key components of effective IFSP goals, explore the differences between IFSP goals and IEP goals, practice writing meaningful, family-centered goals, and gain strategies for developing goals that support participation in everyday routines and activities.
